Men’s Ministry

Men’s Ministry within the Benoni Baptist Church was given it’s own portfolio at the beginning of 2008. This resulted largely from the change of hearts in the men (13 of them) who attended the Mighty Men’s Conference (MMC) at Shalom (www.shalomtrust.co.za/) in April the previous year (2007).

2008 has seen the Men’s Ministry strengthen and flourish. The MMC experience was repeated with this year’s group swelling to 75 men, 60 of whom travelled to the MMC on a semi-luxury 60 seater coach, hired for the occasion. This group included men from various other churches and presented the opportunity for networking between these churches which has led to involvement in other interdenominational, local community based projects.

The Men’s Ministry has also started a Christian business men’s breakfast gathering which meets every Friday morning at 7:00am at The Upper Room Christian restaurant and coffee shop in Benoni’s Lakeside Mall (www.upper-room.co.za). We meet under the banner of CBMC (Calling Business to Minister Christ), an International Organisation that focuses on a one-on-one discipleship ministry within local business communities (www.cbmc.co.za).

Various other activities are in planning stages and include: involvement in a community based schools outreach programme, commitment (as a church) to support and be involved in the Benoni community’s Crisis Response and Crime Prevention programmes, organization of an interdenominational men’s breakaway camping weekend.
