Benoni Baptist Church joint project with Emmanuel African Baptist Church (EABC)
We believe God has firmly led us to becoming involved in this project – from the initial “knock on Pastor Grant’s door” (literally) – by Pastor Abraham Molo, to the establishing of a relationship, to the group of Independent African Baptist Churches becoming affiliated into the Baptist Union; to the presentation of our proposed involvement at the BBC AGM; to the perfect timing coinciding with the completion of our Sena Bible project… need I say more?
Background
The EABC started in 1992 with 15 members, in 1996 they bought the 1820 m ² property for R25,000. The site is in Etwatwa Ext 21, 21kms from BBC.
The current (as of September 2008) membership is 156 meet in the existing tin structure (see picture), which is also used for the Sunday School, prior to the main service.
The property was securely fenced in 1998 at a further cost of R29,000.
This year (2008) EABC has had a new steel structure erected and roofed at a cost of R106,000.
BBC has committed our annual ‘Thank Offering’ (taken up in November), to this project. Pastor Molo’s aim is to have the building completed early in the New Year; floor, walls, windows etc.
The potential for use of the facilities in the community is exciting and space on the property lends itself to other community related projects.
